Welcome to my training blog. I've been posting my mileage and thought here as I participate in a marathon training program that started in June and takes me right up to the marathon: through 18 weeks, 435 miles, and countless Calories. Check back whenever you're interested to know more about my training milestones and challenges!

I've partnered with Center for Independent Futures, a non-profit organization which offers progressive programming aimed at giving individuals with disabilities access to the skills and opportunities to realize a full life. Please help support my fundraising and donate to CIF.

If you're still feeling flush after helping me reach my fundraising goal, there are a few things I could use myself for my running. Here's my wishlist.

Ugh.

Runners are effing crazy. Who the hell gets up at 6 am to go running?! I rolled out of bed today at 5:48 am and left my house at 6:10 to walk the three-quarters mile to our running site. Lame. I know we gotta beat the heat, but this is seriously early.

Anyway, I got there and kinda calmed down. The sun had just come up over Lake Michigan and there was a nice chill. It was actually pretty picturesque, so I got over my grumbling. I was pretty surprised how easily people struck up conversations this early, though. It took me a good mile before I said "hi" to anyone.

Six miles, 60 minutes. Solid.

The check's in the mail

I just mailed my check to CARA for my marathon training program and membership. I got a pretty nice discount by running for a charity. It starts in nine days.

It's getting real guys.
